Social Responsibility

 

Roshni Publication a leader in the publishing industry believes strongly in the importance of engaging in sustainable business practices and driven by high social responsibility standards for the continued growth of a literate community, and the strength of our company. As a business leader, Roshni Publication believes in building long-term relationships with its clients, partners, employees, and the community at large. Roshni Publication expresses its social responsibility in a range of various initiatives that impact its stakeholders and the community positively. We practice active citizenship through social service, medical services for employees, and also promotion of sports and entertainment.

To achieve this vision further we have set ourselves some ambitious goals to 2022 focusing on the following priority areas:

  • Environmental-friendly practices

 

Shah latif kitab ghar and Roshni Books, outlets of Roshni publication, located in Hyderabad, Sindh has been supporting city sustainability through its plastic bag recycling program. The both bookstores uses bags made with a thicker plastic, which is allowed. The plastic in the book store bags is at least 2.25 mil thick (one mil is equal to one-thousandth of an inch), which allows the bags to be more easily reused and eventually recycled. To recycle unusable bags, drop them off at the Bookstores i-e Shah latif kitab Ghar and Roshni Books, located at Press Street, Hyder chowk, Hyderabad. The recycling bin is available at both bookstores of Roshni Publication.

We also initiated a reusable shopping bag for students. The goal was to get the students to first purchase the bags, and then bring the reusable bags back to the bookstore and continue to use them for their shopping. If the students would use these bags, then the bookstore would not have to use expensive plastic bags.

 

  • Promoting reading and diversity

Roshni Publication is a grassroots publishing house of literature books that advocates essential changes in the publishing industry. Our aim is to help produce and promote literature that reflects and honors the lives of all ages at every stage of life.

Book Donation Initiative

Many publishing houses donate books to non-profit organizations in Pakistan and abroad. Through its Book Donation Initiative, Roshni Publication maintains a list of organizations that accept such donations, verifying their eligibility and providing their mission; donation needs and contact information. Individuals and publishers can use this list to support literacy and reading for specific groups, such as schools, library systems, youth groups, coalitions, learning centers, foundations, college access programs, and many others.

 

  • Publishing for Diverse Audiences

Since the 1990s, demand has grown for a greater diversity of voices in Pakistan publishing, to better reflect our nation’s population of widely varied races, cultures, languages and creeds.

The hope is to get more people interested in reading by providing characters and stories that they can connect with personally and culturally. This is especially important for children’s books, in which being able to “see themselves” in a tale can launch a child’s lifelong love of reading. Having a diversity of published voices also enriches creativity, stimulates greater literacy and readership rates, and enables authors to reach new audiences with their works.
